No straight-bar or slant shape spells A# m(maj7) on the lap steel in C6 tuning (C-E-G-A-C-E). The chord is built from A#, C#, E#, G##, but a steel bar can only sound what the open strings become under it: at every fret, and on every short slant the lap steel allows, the strings that land on this chord's tones leave out a tone it needs, or too few of them ring.

The E13 tuning (B-D-E-G#-C#-E) has one: Slant 7–5, strings 5–3.
